UAT in the Spirit of Hong Kong Awards

(14 November 2014, Hong Kong) The Spirit of Hong Kong Awards was established in 2013 for the Celebrating Hong Kong campaign for the 110th anniversary of the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and celebrates the achievements of truly remarkable people in Hong Kong. UAT is glad to be one of the finalists in the Awards and final winner under the CSR Award category.

To ensure the awards are being recognized as authoritative, in-touch, and positive image to readers and the public, the Awards have 1 chairperson with 8 judges on the panel, including Professor Frederick Ma Si Hang, GBS, JP; Mr. Daryl Ng Win Kong, Executive Director of Sino Group; Dr. David J. Pang, Chairman of SCMP Group; Mr. James Blake, GBS, OBE, JP; Professor Nelson Chow, Honorary Professor of Department of Social Work and Social Administration, University of Hong Kong; Dr. Rebecca Lee Lok-Sze, MH, Polar Scientist; The Hon Ronald Arculli, GBM, CVO, GBS, OBE, JP, Senior Partner of King & Wood Mallesons Hong Kong Office; Ms. Shelley Lee Lai Kuen, GBS, OBE, JP, President of Maryknoll Convent School Educational Trust and Mr. Wang Xiangwei, Editor in Chief of SCMP.

Engaging with 8 NGOs and corporations with large community outreach, SCMP also gathers worthy individuals for nominations. The Nominations Committee reviews the nominations based on 3 pillars: Fortitude, Impact and Inspiration, in accordance with a set of scoring system for fairness.

In this year, UAT is delighted to achieve as one of the finalists in the Spirit of Hong Kong Awards and final winner of CSR Award category, Enterprising Hong Kong Awards. Mr. Tony Cheung, our General Manager, said, 'UAT is dedicated to stakeholders' wellness and corporate volunteerism since incorporation. 'He continued, 'We insist on organizing monthly voluntary activities and encouraging our employees to participate to help the disadvantaged.'

During 2013 to 14, UAT has launched Path to Adulthood: UAT Youth Cultivation Scheme to nurture our next generation. We uphold Children Holistic Development, Youth Career Guidance, University CSR Education, Mainland Education, and Donation, supporting 5 NGOs and 4 schools with diversified activities including sports training, environmental and cultural outreach, internship, career workshop, and university and China education.
